Man charged with lewd, lascivious battery of underage girl

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 21-year-old man who carried out sexual acts with an underage girl after the child brought him into a home, was arrested Monday, deputies said. The man - identified as Cody J. Scott - told deputies he knew the girl was a minor and that the sexual activity was consensual, reports show. The girl, who was 13 years old at the time of the incident, planned to sneak Scott into her home while her parents were asleep, authorities said. Under Florida law, anyone age 17 or younger can not legally consent to sexual activity. Any adult who has sex with a person under 18 years of age can be prosecuted for statutory rape. 4 arrested on suspicion of operating vessels while drinking

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Four men were arrested in separate incidents over the weekend after authorities said the individuals were operating their vessels while drinking. The arrests come a week after five other men were jailed on the same offense. Law enforcement officers with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigated the incidents. Officers arrested Michael Kahn, 20, of the 6900 block of 29th Street, Quinn Muir, 22, of the 1300 block of 44th Avenue, James Maxwell, 38, of the 1100 block of 27th Avenue, and Travis Clark each on a boating under the influence charge. Partially sunken boat catches fire…again

Picture taken May 30, 2018. VERO BEACH — A partially sunken boat that caught fire after it struck power lines three months ago burst into flames a second time over the weekend, authorities said. The cause of the second fire was not immediately known. The vessel already had extensive fire damage from the previous incident. Indian River County Fire Rescue crews responded to the blaze about 10 p.m. Saturday at the abandoned vessel,  just south of the 17th Street bridge. The 35-foot long catamaran was fully engulfed in flames when fire rescue boat units arrived, Fire Rescue spokesman Cory Richter said.
