VERO BEACH — The driver of a Honda van escaped serious injuries after the vehicle collided with a Brightline train on Friday afternoon, fire rescue crews said.
The collision happened about 4 p.m. along the railroad tracks at Aviation Boulevard and U.S. 1, said Sean Gibbons, deputy chief with Indian River County Fire Rescue. The van’s driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.
The driver was the only person in the van at the time of the wreck, Gibbons said. Details on what led to the crash were not immediately available.
Vero Beach police officials could not be reached for comment.
