Saint Edward’s School presents The Taming of the Shrew

VERO BEACH — Saint Edward’s School’s Theatre department will present Shakespeare’s uproarious comedic battle of the sexes, The Taming of the Shrew, Friday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 26 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts. The play follows the story of the beautiful Bianca (played by Junior Kaitlin Haire) whose multiple suitors hatch a plan to have her malicious sister Kate the Shrew (Senior Liz Sockol), wed off to the uber-macho and bombastic Petruchio (Junior Jamari Williams), once their mother Baptista, (Sophomore Cara Brugemman) declares that Bianca may not marry until Kate is wed first.

This laugh out loud production features a highly diverse cast of Saint Edward’s students ranging from the 8th to 12th grade, including hilarious characters as Bianca’s suitors (played by Ethan Klein, Victoria Mangapani and Jordan Canevari), Petruchio’s sidekick Grumio (Nicki Puskar), the cunning servant Tranio (Caroline Petty), the widow (Amber Quinlan), and the rest of the servants (Amber Quinlan, Nati Deibe, and Cassidy Layton) who add to the utter hilarity that remains one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies.

Taming of the Shrew is directed by Saint Edward’s School’s Theatre Director, Maggie Baker, with technical production by Jeremy Baker.
