Gallery 14 to present Fabulous Five Exhibit

VERO BEACH — Gallery 14 will present Fabulous Five: Five Artists Working in Diverse Mediums, through Saturday, January 29.  A gala reception will be held Friday evening January 21from 5 to 8 pm with hors d’oeuvres supplied by STAX Restaurant and Bar.

Featured will be acrylic/clay paintings by Leigh Bennett, photography by Barbara Blaisdell, baskets by Viola Pace Knudsen, oils and pastels by Laura Smith and stoneware sculpture by Walford Campbell.

Also featured will be work by on-going exhibiting artists Francis Mesaros, Minakshi De, Carol Staub, and Carole Keller, and work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, collage, pastel, mixed media, jewelry and photography by Gallery 14 partners Edgardo Abello, Lila Blakeslee, Barbara duPont, Mary Ann Hall, Virginia Knapp, Barbara Landry, Deborah Morrell Polackwich, Dorothy Napp Schindel.

Gallery 14, located at 1911 14th Ave., is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday 10 am to 2 pm. Closed Monday.

Saturday house fire ruled accidental

Photo provided by Indian River County Fire Rescue VERO BEACH — A Saturday blaze that originated in a garage and spread to a home - where a family of six escaped unharmed - was ruled accidental, fire rescue officials said. The state fire marshal determined the fire was an accident, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The blaze displaced a grandmother, mother and four children. Downtown Vero sizzles with excitement at Summer Sizzler Stroll

VERO BEACH -- Downtown Vero Beach was a hub of activity Friday evening as galleries and businesses welcomed throngs of people to the 3D District Summer Sizzler Stroll. It was indeed sizzling, but the heat was far better than previously predicted drenching rains from Hurricane Irene. Many went all out for the event, luring the steady stream of visitors with refreshments and live entertainment.
