Dr. Joseph John Altieri, 54, died June 6, 2011, at his home.
He was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and practiced in Vero Beach for 25 years, coming from Yonkers, N.Y.
He was board certified in neurology and psychiatry and a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association, Florida Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Forensic Psychiatrists.
He was an active member and friend of PFLAG.
He graduated with distinction from New York Medical College and completed his internship and residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
He was the medical director of the Center for Emotional and Behavioral Health, Lawnwood Pavilion and Savannas Hospital.
He also was a consulting psychiatrist at Indian River Medical Center.
He practiced in several locations including Port St. Lucie, Stuart and Fort Lauderdale.
Survivors include his daughters, Robyn, of Arvada, Colo., Diana, of Tampa and Nicole, of Vero Beach; wife, Gina, of Vero Beach; brothers, Eugene, of Panama and Frank, of Fort Myers; and mother, Frances Louise Altieri, of Vero Beach.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvestro Altieri.

A memorial service will be at noon June 11 at Cavalry Chapel in Vero Beach.
