Robert Olin Smith, 100, died Feb. 21, 2011, at VNA Hospice House.
He was born in Washington, D.C., and had been a resident of Vero Beach for more than 25 years, coming from his birthplace.
He was a veteran of the Army, having served during World War II.
Before retirement, he co-owned, along with his siblings, O.F. Smith and Brothers, which was a development construction company based in Bethesda, Md.
He was a lifelong member of Congressional Country Club in Bethesda.
Survivors include his brother, John D. Smith, of Annapolis, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Orville, William, Mildred and Muriel.

A private memorial service will be at a later date.
