Charles Alton McDonald, 83, formerly of Vero Beach

Charles Alton McDonald, 83, died July 7, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Jasper and lived in Albany, Ga., coming from Vero Beach. He retired from the MCLB, Albany, Ga.; he was also a design engineer with Piper Aircraft Corp.

He was a veteran, serving in the Navy Air Transport during World War II. He was a member of Porterfield United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Rolls Royce Owners Club of America, Artesian Car Club and the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Duke McDonald of Albany; sons, Ken McDonald of Albany and Mike McDonald of Orlando; daughters, Sharon Barber of Albany and Vickie Boles of Vero Beach; stepson, Ben Owens of Valdosta, Ga.; sister, Jan Zunker of Houston; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte McDonald and Margaret Crew; and brother, Virgil L. McDonald.
