INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Jennifer Pippin, the former legislative chair for the local Moms for Liberty chapter, won the Republican primary for the District 2 county commission seat. Now, Pippin will head to the general election where she will contend against Democratic candidate Robbie Hardingham.
Pippin won the Republican primary over challengers Bob McPartlan, the vice-mayor of Sebastian, and Brooks Robinson, a businessman and attorney. Pippin led with a 41.57 percentage in votes, followed by McPartlan with 34.48 percent and Robinson with 23.95 percent.
The candidates were vying for the seat being vacated by Incumbent Joe Flescher, a four-term commissioner who will retire in November after serving the public for 20 years.
Pippin is a lifelong Indian River County resident. She previously served on the Florida Department of Education Library Media Review Committee, the School District of Indian River County’s Code of Conduct Committee and as vice-president of Professional Republican Women and Mothers.
Pippin’s top priorities include responsible growth to protect the roads, environment and community; wise and transparent spending of taxpayer dollars; wise decisions on infrastructure that protect the environment and wallets of local families; and full support to law enforcement and first responders.
Pippin supports the controversial homestead exemption outlined in Amendment 3.
She previously said Amendment 3 will provide meaningful tax relief to families, seniors on fixed incomes and working residents. Pippin said the proposed legislation would increase homestead tax protections for Florida homeowners, provide additional safeguards against excessive property tax increases and help keep homeownership affordable for residents.
