SEBASTIAN — Bomb squad technicians detonated a ‘suspicious’ bag left behind in the parking lot of a Speedway gas station on Thursday afternoon, police said. Details were limited on the incident.
A Speedway employee spotted the black backpack about 3:38 pm. at the parking lot of the gas station, 700 U.S. 1, Sebastian, just northwest of Riverview Park, said Sebastian police Deputy Chief Tim Wood. The St. Lucie County Bomb Squad detonated the bag about 7:30 p.m., Wood said.
Details about the contents inside the bag were not immediately available. Police briefly closed roads in the immediate area.
The investigation into the suspicious bag remains ongoing. No further details were immediately available.
