It was a stunning, historic win that Vero Beach High School’s football team had not seen in nearly 30 years. On Friday, Nov. 28, the Fighting Indians football squad advanced to the state semifinals after defeating Orlando’s Dr. Phillips High School Panthers.

Vero high’s footballers came out victorious with a final score of 49-23. The achievement marked the first time Vero Beach High’s football team became regional champions since 1998.

The final four teams in the 7A Florida High School Athletic Association football championship are Vero Beach High School, Lake Mary High School, Venice High School and Miami Palmetto Senior High School.

Vero’s next game will be this Friday, Dec. 5, against the Miami Palmetto Panthers. The home game will start at 7 p.m. at the Citrus Bowl at Billy Livings Field, located directly across the street from the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center.

Tickets will be available at the front gate of the stadium at 5:30 p.m. on game day, Friday. Any tickets bought on game day will be cash only.
