Richard Wayne Saldanah, 70
March 25, 1956 ~ September 11, 2026
RICHARD WAYNE SALDANAH, age 70, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach. Richard was born March 25, 1956, in White Plains, New York to Bernard and Marion Saldanah (nee Meyers).
Richard was loved by all who knew him and will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, quiet strength and devotion to his family and friends. He loved boating, quadding, and golfing, but more than anything, his son, Anthony, who predeceased him, and was his whole world until the very end.
Richard is survived by his brother William Saldanah (partner Annamarie Sant); sister Christina Bivins (spouse Jason Bivins); nephew, David Saldanah; and niece, Dakota Beck, along with many friends.
Richard is predeceased by Bernard (Father), Marion (Mother), Blair (Brother) and Anthony (Son).
Celebrations of Life in Florida and New York are being planned and posted at a later date.

Maria Messinger, 89

Maria Messinger, 89, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026 at the Brennity at Tradition in Port St. Lucie, FL.
Maria was born in Angeles Panpanga, Philippines, and attended college at the University of the Philippines where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
On December 16, 1967 Maria married Charles (Chuck) Messinger who was enlisted in the Air Force for 30 years before “retiring” in Perrine, Florida where they settled in for forty -five years. Upon marriage to Chuck, she became the proud stepmother of four boys that she raised with all the love, care and compassion that anyone could possibly wish for. Maria was entirely un-selfish as she kept and maintained a “nomadic” military home (often during lengthy absences of Chuck) while always exuding an aura of love and patience.
As time allowed in her life Maria developed a love for, and mastered, the game of Bingo, developing many enduring friendships along the way.
Maria is survived by her ever-grateful sons, Steven Messinger (Owenlea), Robert Messinger, Dan Messinger (Angela) and David Messinger (Charlamaine); numerous grandchildren; sister Medy Kocher; brothers Tiling Paje (Nida) and Gerry Paje.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years Chuck; parents, Amado and Conrada (Dungca) Paje; brothers Minong (Benny) Paje and Pat Paje: brother-in-law Charlie Kocher and sister-in-law Tess Paje.

Robert Wesley “Robby” Stevens, 70, Vero Beach
April 16, 1956 ~ September 14, 2026
Robert Wesley “Robby” Stevens, age 70, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, after a short illness.
Robby was born on April 16, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Richard and Beverly Stevens (Uncle Dick and Aunt Betty). The family moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1961 and founded Life For Youth Camp. Robby’s life became deeply intertwined with Life for Youth Camp, where he grew up working and eventually became the Director along with his wife Sherri.
Robby wore many hats throughout his years at camp—ministering to children, lifeguarding, directing the horse program, driving boats, fixing just about anything as the camp mechanic, driving buses, running sound, tooling around in golf carts, flipping pancakes, and so much more. But more than any title or job, Robby was someone who loved people and found countless ways to serve them.
Life for Youth Camp was more than a place where Robby worked; it was a huge part of who he was. Through the years, he touched the lives of countless campers, families, and staff. His dedication, humor, willingness to help, and heart for serving others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Robby was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Charles Stevens and Beverly Stevens.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherri Stevens (48 years); his brother, Richard C. Stevens Jr.; his children, Stephanie Stenger (Andy) and Bobby Stevens (Jamie); his niece, Chrissy Rogers (Brendan); and his many beloved grandchildren: Jacob McCoy, Kyle Stenger (Kaitlyn), Braden Rogers, Grady Kovaleski, Wesley Stevens, Hadley Kovaleski, Seylah Stenger, Jackson Kovaleski, Dalton Stenger, Michael Stevens, Lydia Stevens, Sadie Rogers, and William Rogers.
He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Evangelyn Stenger, Amelia Stenger, and Joseph Stenger, who brought additional joy and love to his life.
Robby will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his love for children, his dedication to Life for Youth Camp, and the many lives he touched throughout his years. His legacy will live on through his family, the people he mentored, and the countless memories made along the way.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Central Assembly, 6767 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32966, on October 18, 2026, at 3:00pm.
A private gathering will be held for family following the service.

Shirley Ann Schindler, 92, Vero Beach
June 30, 1934 ~ September 16, 2026
Shirley built her life around the things she valued most: family, faith, caring for others, and bringing the people she loved together.
Born June 30, 1934, in Rochester, New York, Shirley lived a full 92 years before passing away in Vero Beach, Florida, on September 16, 2026.
Shirley married Kenneth R. Schindler on February 10th, 1951. They moved their family to Vero Beach in 1969, and spent many years working with each other in their horticultural nurseries in Vero Beach at Riverside Garden Centers. Shirley and Ken shared 40 years of marriage, until his passing in 1991.
Family was at the center of Shirley’s life. Holidays, birthdays, and other occasions were opportunities to gather, celebrate, and make sure the people she loved stayed connected. In Shirley fashion, there was always a reason to bring the family together.
Her faith was equally important to her. Shirley loved attending worship services, sharing her faith, and making treasured visits to Jerusalem, including trips she was able to experience with her mother, sister, grandchildren, and other family members. Her relationship with God was deeply personal and remained a significant part of her life.
Shirley had a generous heart for people outside her own family. She was a part of Women’s Aglow Christian Organization, Visiting Nurse Association (chosen Volunteer of the Year), her community at Harbour Island Club Villas, Dogs for Life, Come Bless Israel Travel Group (co-owner), and several ladies Bible Study weekly gatherings. For many years, she also enjoyed taking her therapy dog, Sarah, to nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, bringing companionship and a little joy to those she visited.
Shirley took pride in taking care of herself, and in the routines that mattered to her. Those who knew her always expected Shirley would be there for her Friday hair appointments, facials, manicures, and pedicures she enjoyed. She courageously faced breast cancer and bladder cancer during her lifetime, and continued to live with the strength and confidence that were so much a part of who she was. In her later years, Shirley received wonderful around-the-clock care in her home.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Robert and Marian Downey; her sister, Elaine Daley; and several aunts and uncles.
Shirley is survived by her aunt, Geraldine Walch; her sisters, Diane Doyle and Deborah Palmer; her son, Kurt Schindler (Sandy); and her daughters, Ann Hollenbeck (Larry) and Carol Hughes (Garry). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shaunna Lachnitt (Carl), Kimberly Burris (Robb), Kyle Schindler, Jennell Harkins (Gerry), Erika Runkle (Eric), Heidi Hughes, Mark Schindler, and Keren Calvin (Zack); and her great-grandchildren, Calvin Lachnitt, Eden and Evelyn Runkle, and Khloe and Kylie Calvin. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sally Schindler, and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley faithfully remembered all of their birthdays each and every year.
Shirley’s was not a life measured simply by years. It was measured in family gathered together, traditions carried forward, people cared for, journeys taken, faith practiced, and the many small ways she made sure the people she loved knew they belonged.
A gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, with a funeral service beginning promptly at 2:00 p.m.

Dermot Oliver Dinan, 82, Vero Beach
July 14, 1944 ~ July 30, 2026
Dermot Oliver Dinan, age 82, died on July 30, 2026, at home in Vero Beach, FL.
He was born in Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland and moved from Ireland to England and eventually Pennsylvania, USA.
He retired from TS Scientific, the company he founded and ran for decades.
After retirement, he split his time between Lake Atitlan, Guatemala and Ireland. During his time in Guatemala, he became part of the vibrant community and sponsored several projects to improve the local area.
He returned to the US after a life-altering injury, living in Florida.
Survivors include his son, David, his son-in-law Vik, and his grandchildren, Kieran and Rohan.
