GIFFORD — Troopers continue to probe a deadly two-vehicle wreck that claimed the life of a 41-year-old Gifford man last month. Indian River County sheriff’s officials identified the man as Christopher Devon Harris, who was riding a motorcycle.

Two women who were traveling in the other vehicle – a black sedan – were not hurt, said Lt. Kevin Jaworski, a spokesperson for the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision involving the motorcycle and the black car happened about 10 p.m., July 24, in the 3800 block of 45th Street in Gifford. Deputies arrived on scene and found the motorcycle and car blocking both east and westbound lanes of 45th Street, Jaworski said.

“(Harris) had obvious significant injuries,” Jaworski said.

Harris was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, Jaworski said. The wreck led deputies to close 45th Street in both directions until about 2:45 a.m.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Troopers were not immediately available for comment.
