Sebastian police search for missing man

SEBASTIAN — Police are searching for a 23-year-old man who was last seen Friday.

Rico Malique Arocha, of Sebastian, was last seen at his home about 10 p.m. Dec. 8 on Flint Street. He left the home to go fishing in Melbourne, his mother told police.

Arocha was last seen wearing red jeans with zippers and a red shirt, police said. Anyone who sees Arocha or who has information on his whereabouts should call the Sebastian Police Department at 772-589-5233.

Three people were hurt after two crashes involving semi-tractor trailers and a dump truck that occurred Wednesday along Interstate 95, officials said. The conditions of those injured were not immediately available. The first wreck - involving one semi-tractor trailer and a dump truck - happened about 7:30 a.m. on northbound I-95 near the 145-mile marker, Indian River County Sheriff's officials said. Two people were taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, Indian River County Fire Rescue Bureau Chief Bill Herrington said. The collision briefly blocked all northbound lanes. Humane Society takes in nearly 50 dogs from west coast following Ian aftermath

Nearly 50 dogs in Lee County - one of the many areas on Florida's west coast pummeled by Hurricane Ian - were recently relocated to their new home at the local Vero Beach humane society. The Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County took in the canines Sunday, according to agency officials. The dogs are from Lee County Domestic Animal Services.
