Bent Pine Golf Club wins Treasure Coast Interclub Bridge League

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — James B. Nolan, General Manager of Bent Pine Golf Club, announced that The Bent Pine team won the Interclub Bridge Championship for the second year in a row.

The championship involves 11 clubs, all playing eight duplicate bridge tournaments from October to March. The winner is determined by having accumulated the most points during the season, and receives a check for $1,016 to donate to the charity of choice.

The competition consisted of eight matches hosted at various participating club venues, throughout the season. At each match, participants meet for lunch and play 24 boards of duplicate bridge.

Bent Pine Golf Club won the first two years of the competition and John’s Island captured the title for the following five respective years. Bent Pine reclaimed the trophy last year, in a season that stimulated much interest and lively sportsmanship, and the same occurred again this year.

The winning team representing Bent Pine was comprised of Lee Ann Daly (captain), Bill Friesell, Paul Quinn and Herb Crowder; additional team members who critically filled in over the season were Judy Balph and Carol Manning. Bent Pine Golf Club is proud of the quality of the team they assembled and also the high level of play throughout the competition.

The $1,000-plus contributed by all players was given to a local charity chosen by the winning team. Bent Pine Golf Club was honored to name The National Navy SEAL Museum, located in Fort Pierce, as this year’s recipient organization.

The Museum is the only one of its kind in the United States; it celebrates, honors and educates on the history of the SEALs.
