Adult Day Care volunteer receives Sophie Restivo Volunteerism Award

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Jude Carole along with her dog Hammar from Dogs for Life have been awarded the Sophie Restivo Volunteerism Award for their efforts in volunteering weekly at the Senior Resource Association’s (SRA) Adult Day Care Center in Vero Beach.

The SRA’s Sophie Restivo Award for Volunteerism is given annually to a volunteer for their outstanding contribution to improving the lives of seniors in Indian River County.

Carole and Hammar visit the Vero Beach Adult Day Care facility off of 14th Street every Friday morning from the Dogs for Life organization.

“Our clients thoroughly enjoy seeing Jude and her dog Hammer each week,” said Karen Deigl, President and CEO of the Senior Resource Association. “She truly is wonderful volunteer who goes above and beyond. We are so grateful for her and everyone at the ‘Dogs for Life’ organization for visiting both of our Adult Day Care facilities each week.”

The award is named after Sophie Restivo, an individual who dedicated more than 20 years of volunteer service to the Senior Resource Association. Her dedication and passion for service to seniors inspired staff and clients every day. Sophie retired from volunteering in 2009; however her service spirit lives through the Sophie Restivo Award.
