Vero Insurance supports the “Ride to Beat Hunger”

VERO BEACH — Vero Insurance recently became a Century Ride Sponsor for The Ride to Beat Hunger, which benefits the Harvest Food and Outreach Center’s mission to inspire and empower people living in poverty to lift themselves and their families to economic self-sufficiency.

Team Harvest, comprised of Vero Beach cyclists Rev. Scott Alexander, Rev. Cliff Melvin and Michael Vincent, will begin their trek by dipping the rear wheel of their bikes into the Pacific Ocean in Costa Mesa, Calif., on April 19. Melvin and Vincent are riding 841 miles during the first week to Albuquerque, N.M. They will be riding with Alexander, who will complete the remainder of the 3,457-mile journey on May 21, when he dips the front wheel of his bike into the Atlantic Ocean in Amesbury, Mass.

“We are inviting the community to join us and become part of this great adventure by helping to raise awareness and support for Harvest Food and Outreach Center’s long-term solutions for poverty-related hunger,” said Joe Chiarella of Vero Insurance and member of Harvest Food and Outreach Center Board of Directors.

For those interested in going the extra mile to impact poverty by pledging their support for The Ride to Beat Hunger, sponsorships are available from $15 per mile to $1,500 to support 100 mile ride (an entire day’s ride).

In addition, supporters can mark calendars to join Team Harvest at a joyful community celebration at a Splash Party hosted by Waldo’s on the beach on May 26, at 5 p.m. For information about how you can become a sponsor visit www.theridetobeathunger.org, text HFOC to 41444 or call Harvest at (772) 770-0740.
