Lowe’s home improvement center help build paddocks at Humane Society

VERO BEACH — On Saturday, Sept. 10, staff from the Lowe’s home improvement center in Vero Beach will be volunteering at The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC). With Lowe’s motto being “Let’s build something together,” staff from both organizations will construct 2 additional paddocks by the animal shelter’s barn.

“Thanks to Lowe’s generous donation of materials and volunteers this new area will help house the increasing number of farm animals arriving at the Humane Society. Many become homeless due to the economy while others are brought to us as a result of neglect or cruelty,” explains HSVB & IRC Director of Animal Protective Services Ilka Daniel.

According to Lowe’s Commercial Sales Specialist Ilse Way, the Lowe’s Hero Project program is beneficial for everyone. “Lowe’s Hero Volunteers share a common goal to make our community a better place to live,” she says adding, “They just make us all feel good about our contributions to our community.”

Humane Society staff and volunteers will arrive at the shelter at 7:30 a.m. to begin the project.
