McKee to extend hours for final Seuss by Night

VERO BEACH — As A Season of Seuss: The Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden and Art Exhibit winds to a close at McKee Botanical Garden, visitors will have one last extended-hour opportunity to view the exhibit after dark.  The Garden’s final Seuss by Night event will be held Friday, April 15 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.  General admission applies.

“With the return of Daylight Savings Time and this being our last after-dark event, we decided to extend our hours to 8:30 p.m.,” explained Executive Director Christine Hobart.

“We hope this will allow more families to experience the multicolored lights and luminarias that make this exhibit so special at night.”

Seuss by Night features luminaria-lit pathways, colored landscape lights, a Dr. Seuss big-screen movie, a Dr. Seuss Reading Room sponsored by Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company.

Sandwiches and Seuss treats will be available for purchase in the Garden Café, featuring Elizabeth D. Kennedy & Co.  Free orange juice and lemonade from Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company will be served.

A Season of Seuss includes large-scale bronze statues of The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch, The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham and Yertle the Turtle.  Also featured are nine imaginary creatures from Dr. Seuss’s Collection of Unorthodox Taxidermy, such as the Mulberry Street Unicorn and Semi-Normal Green-Lidded Fawn.

The mission of McKee Botanical Garden is to nurture and enhance a historic garden in a unique tropical setting for the education, enjoyment and enrichment of all.

General admission fees are $9 adults, $8 seniors and $5 children ages 3 to 12.  Admission is free for members and children under 3.

Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
