United Way to honor Loyal Contributors

VERO BEACH — Presenting sponsors Florida Floor Fashions and Nelson Morgan Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch have partnered with the United Way to honor Loyal Contributors at the Second Annual United Way Loyal Contributors Appreciation Event on Thursday, April 14 at the Quail Valley River Club.

A national recognition program established by United Way Worldwide in 2009 and adopted by many local United Ways across the country, the Loyal Contributors program recognizes those who have been giving to ANY United Way for 10 or more years.

Donors are asked to self-identify by providing the year they began giving to United Way (anywhere in the country).  Since launching the program last fiscal year, more than 500 donors have stepped up to identify themselves as Loyal Contributors.

“The response has been overwhelming.  So many people move to Vero Beach from other areas, it’s great to be able to tie their past support with the work being done in our community,” said Director of Planned Giving, Michelle Malyn.   “We have Loyal Contributors that have been supporting United Way for 40+, 50+ and even 60+ years.”

Thirty-two donors have given for 60+ years, 85 for 50+ years, 89 for 40+ years, 133 for 25+ years, 126 for 15+ years and 52 for 10+ years.

Tom Nelson and Kyle Morgan of Nelson Morgan Wealth Management and Chad Morrison of Florida Floor Fashions are proud to sponsor this event.

“There is a steadfast commitment to community and advancing the common good that is unique to the United Way Loyal Contributor.  It is our pleasure to recognize their generosity and help United Way acknowledge them for all they’ve done over the years,” said Chad Morrison, owner of Florida Floor Fashions and 2011-2012 United Way Board Chair.

The United Way recognizes Loyal Contributors at its major events and in its annual report that will published shortly at www.unitedwayirc.org.  Loyal Contributors can also opt to receive a quarterly newsletter and other information on how their donations are at work helping people here in Indian River County.

Donors are invited to self-identify as a Loyal Contributor by filling out a form available at www.unitedwayirc.org and sending it back to our local United Way.

“We’re still working to raise awareness about the Loyal Contributors program,” added Malyn. “We know there a likely many more here in our community and we sincerely hope they’ll contact us to identify themselves as such.”

The event is invitation only.  To receive an invitation, or for more information on the Loyal Contributors program, contact Michelle Malyn at [email protected] or (772) 567-8900 ext. 14.
