SPORTS: The Spring Football Elite 11 for Indian River County

We are two months away from St. Edwards, Sebastian River, and Vero Beach High School having a spring football game, but it is never too early to rank some of their local talent as they get ready for spring practices.

These rankings are based on a combination of film I’ve seen on each player, their potential for next year, and what I’ve seen or heard about in regard to their off-season workouts.  Michael Bielecki’s Indian River County Elite Eleven Football Players for 2011

1) Connor Moore OL, VBHS, so, 6’2, 245- He’s the best 2013 college prospect on the Treasure Coast.  Moore took camp MVP at Junior Rank camp in Arizona in December.  Could linebacker be in his future?

2) Cortez Brown RB/LB, SES, jr, 5’10, 185- The best running back in the county as a junior (844 yards and 14 TDs) but has could have more upside at defensive back.

3) Norris Rogers QB, SRHS, jr, 5’10, 185- Will be the top quarterback in the county in 2011, but is also a great receiver.  Great arm, and could run for big yards next year.4) Dwayne Hoilett DE, VBHS, jr, 6’3, 230- As talented as any player in the county, Hoilett didn’t play football until 2009. He’ll finally get to start and will thrive as a senior.5) Lonnie Scott OL/DL, SES, jr, 6’2, 250- He continues to grow into his body, and he’ll draw a lot of attention next year as a senior.  Scott is a solid offensive guard prospect.6) Sean Paul DB, VBHS, so, 5’9,155- He’s the fastest player on the VBHS squad, and has potential to be the best cornerback to come out of the school in a decade.7) Jack Flanary DE/TE/P, SRHS, jr, 6’2, 195- Tallied 10 sacks in 2010, Flanary is a solid all-around football player.  His punting improved a lot from a year ago.8) Jamari Williams FB/LB, SES, jr, 5’9, 185- Williams scored 12 TDs from his fullback spot and led St. Ed’s in tackles (by a lot).  Plays hard every down.9) Rakeem Marcelle WR, VBHS, jr, 5’11 165- Had Vero’s first 100-yard game in years in the playoffs.  He could become the school’s third 1,000-yard WR in 2011.10) Nikko Finnegan RB, SRHS, jr, 5’10,180- Was Sebastian’s leading rusher and should get the ball even more in 2011.  Runs hard and with purpose.

11) Karson Dietrich K, VBHS, so, 6′, 150- His textbook kicking motion is impressive, and he’ll only get stronger.  Another great kicking talent in a long line of great VBHS kickers.
