William J. “Bill” Pohmer, 90, died March 21, 2011, at Sebastian River Medical Center.
He was born in New York City and lived in Sebastian for 26 years, coming from Albany, N.Y.
He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian.
He was an officer and member of Sebastian Elks Lodge 2714, member of Knights of Columbus of Sebastian, Moose Lodge of Sebastian, the Modern Woodman and member of the United Steelworkers of America.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Cathy Ackerman, of Sebastian; and sister, Lorraine E. Connors, of Sebastian.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda “Kitty” Pohmer; and brother, George H. Pohmer Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to Elks Lodge No. 2714 of Sebastian, Building Fund, P.O. Box 782060, Sebastian, FL 32958.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. March 25 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, with a service conducted by the Elks Lodge No. 2714, Sebastian, at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 26 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Morrissey celebrant.
Burial will follow at Sebastian Cemetery.
