Grand Harbor Community Outreach donates to Boys & Girls Clubs

VERO BEACH — Grand Harbor Community Outreach recently presented Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County with a $10,000 grant in support of the Club’s SMART Girls program.

SMART Girls, one of several Health and Life Skills programs offered the Boys & Girls Club, is a small-group health, fitness, prevention, education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls ages 8 to 12 and 13 to 17.  Through dynamic sessions, highly participatory activities, field trips and mentoring opportunities with adult women, Club girls explore their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

Known as the “Positive Place for Kids,” the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County provides important after-school and summer programs to kids ages 6-18 at three Clubhouse locations in Indian River County. The top priority of the Boys & Girls Clubs is helping kids succeed in school and in life.  For more information, please call (772) 299-7449 or visit www.bgcirc.org.
