INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Approximately 150 county water customers were without water Friday afternoon after a water main broke. They are expected to be without water until as late as 8 p.m., water officials said.
The break affects 11 buildings from 29 to 39.
Upon restoration of water service, the Indian River County Utilities Department advises that all water used for the following be boiled (a rolling boil of one minute is sufficient):
Hand washing dishes
Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
This boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The department is unable to provide an exact time of survey completion, though it should be no more than 72 hours.
A rescission notice will be distributed.
