Pondexter Canady, 65, died March 23, 2011, at his home.
He was born in Wabasso, and was a lifelong resident of Indian River County.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Canady, of Vero Beach; sons, Pondexter Allen, of Gifford, Gregory Chambers, of Sebastian and Fernando Canady, of Rochester, N.Y.; stepson, Antonio Kelly, of Vero Beach; daughter, Patricia Smith, of Tallahassee; stepdaughter, Latoya Robinson, of Vero Beach; brothers, Enoch Canady, of Rochester and Daniel Mortimer, of Gifford; and 24 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. April 1 at Hortense/Mills Memorial Chapel at Hortense/Mills Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. April 2 at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Wabasso, with burial in the Wabasso Cemetery following the service.
