INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two people are awaiting court appearances following a high-speed chase that ended with law enforcement officers seizing 1 kilo of cocaine and 30 pounds of methamphetamine from a vehicle last week. The man and woman - traveling at more than 100 mph - were arrested on several charges including drug trafficking. The joint effort was led by Indian River County sheriff's deputies, Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Vero Beach Police Department officers. Couple charged after selling methamphetamine, fentanyl from home

A Vero Beach couple was jailed over the weekend after deputies said they found several drugs - including fentanyl, methamphetamine and ecstasy - in a home. Deputies conducted an undercover drug probe earlier this month that revealed the pair was selling narcotics from the residence. "Detectives found trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with other items of drug paraphernalia," sheriff's officials said. "A firearm was also recovered which had the serial numbers removed." The home is a "stones throw away" from Rosewood Magnet School and Vero Beach Little League baseball fields, deputies said. Fentanyl, meth seized in traffic stop

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 53-year-old man was jailed after deputies seized fentanyl and methamphetamine from a vehicle during a traffic stop Monday, officials said. Michael A. Torres, of the 8600 block of 22nd Street, Vero Beach, was charged with two counts of sale, delivery or possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Torres was held Tuesday at the Indian River County Jail on $100,000 bond. Indian River County sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop shortly before 2 p.m. Monday on a silver Ford Escape that ran a stop sign near 1st Street and Old Dixie Highway.
