Staff ReportVERO BEACH — A small kitchen fire in the hood system at Pearl Restaurant on Ocean Drive early Saturday morning will keep the popular eatery closed until next weekend, according to a message on the establishment’s answering machine.Indian River County Fire Marshal Brian Nolan confirmed the incident, adding it “was not much of a fire.” However, the flames did cause the fire prevention system to dump water and chemicals and it will take a week to return the establishment to working order. A message on the restaurant answering machine states that Pearl is currently closed for fire cleanup, but it will be open for business at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.
