INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Police have arrested the second suspect in a burglary and battery case that occurred Thursday, Oct. 1.
Jamaal Williams, 32, of the 600 block of 24th Place SW, Vero Beach, was booked into the Indian River County Jail on Oct. 3 after authorities arrested him in the 3900 block of Lincoln Drive, Vero Beach.
Williams is accused of forcing his way into a woman’s home and beating her in the head with a kitchen pan.
His accomplice, Leah Freeman, 30, of Maldeton, Ga., was arrested in the 3900 block of Lincoln Drive in Vero Beach, on felony burglary and felony aggravated battery on Thursday after the incident.
The victim said she knew her two assailants personally, according to the arrest report. Williams and Freeman were in an argument with the victim in the victim’s home prior to the assault.
The victim asked Williams and Freeman to leave her home, according to the arrest report.
Approximately three to four minutes later, Williams and Freeman forced their way back into the victim’s home and began beating her in the head with two kitchen pans, according to the arrest report.
Authorities observed an egg-sized lump on the victim’s forehead, the report shows.
Williams had multiple warrants out for his arrest and was wanted in regards to the Thursday burglary and battery, until he was found and arrested on Saturday.
The location of the crime was redacted from the report.
Williams is being held in lieu of $20,000 bond and faces charges including felony aggravated battery and felony burglary.
Freeman is still being held on $15,000 bond.
