Gaylord G. Owens, 85, of Sebastian, passed away on Aug. 4, 2015, in the presence of his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Rita Owens; son Mark Owens of Sebastian; daughters Gayle Owens and her spouse Peggie of Orlando; Ruth McCormack (Mark) of Micco; and Martha Masten (Ron) of Hiawassee, Ga.; niece Rae of Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Owens was born in Hillsboro, Wis., to the loving parents of Albert and Dorothy Owens. After finishing high school, he joined the United States Air Force and served in Korean and Vietnam wars. His tour of duty included places like England, Japan, Thailand, and Trinidad Tobago.
After retiring from the service, he attended The University of Wisconsin at Green Bay where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Urban Planning. He then enjoyed a second career with the Social Security Administration in Brevard County, Florida.
He enjoyed working on computers, building and designing his home, taking trips to places like the Amazon River, Snake River, Columbia River and the Galapagos Islands. He attended Christ the King Lutheran Church in Sebastian.
Visitation services will be held Aug. 7, 2015 at Fountainhead Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow visitation at Fountainhead Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial service and fellowship will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1301 Sebastian Blvd., Sebastian FL 32958 on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 11:30 a.m.
