INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Python Patrol is a free training program that teaches individuals how to identify Burmese pythons, safely and humanely capture these invasive snakes, and properly report the data to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
The goal of the program is to create a network of trained individuals throughout south Florida who know how to identify Burmese pythons and how to report sightings, which will help FWC respond quickly when these snakes are encountered.
The FWC will host a Python Patrol Training on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County. The training will take place in the Education Room, located in the Humane Society’s Adoption Building, 6230 77th St., Vero Beach.
Participants must wear long pants and closed toe shoes for the hands-on portion of the training. You must be eighteen years of age or older to participate. For information or to register for this free class call (772) 571-6418.
