The Source receives grant for pantry shelving

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Did you know that individuals and families in our very own community are going hungry every day? Last year, The Source served over 47,000 hot meals. This year so far, 254 food boxes and 8,675 pounds of food have been distributed.

Hunger is an epidemic these days, affecting even our closest of friends. Thanks to a capital grant from St. Augustine Episcopal Church, hundreds of our neighbors in crisis will continue receiving emergency food.

The church funded the replacement of shelves for The Source’s food pantry, ensuring stability and safety for clients while filling their food boxes.

“We could not do what we do without the support of local churches and community partnerships. On behalf of our board, staff, and those we serve, we thank the St. Augustine Episcopal missions team for their continued support, ” said Dennis Bartholomew, The Source executive director.

The Source is the only drop-in outreach ministry in Indian River County that serves as a cold weather shelter, opens six days a week, provides hot meals, emergency food boxes, clothing, basic hygiene items, showers and laundering facilities, mail and phone services, job readiness programs, cooperative community agency referrals, and instills a restorative hope in the saving faith of Jesus Christ.
