Benjamin Robert Collins, 83, died July 24, 2012, at Atlantic Healthcare Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Baldwin, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 10 years, coming from Surfside Beach, S.C.
He was an award-winning gem cutter.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his son, Rhett Palmer, of Vero Beach; two nieces; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Elizabeth Collins.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. July 31 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach.
