VERO BEACH — The Emerson Center, and presenting sponsor CenterState Bank, is proud to announce the third in a trilogy of “Jazz on Sundays” musical events performed by the Space Coast Jazz Orchestra. This series was the inaugural appearance for the Jazz Orchestra on any area stage, boasting 18 seasoned Jazz musicians handpicked from the Central Florida area.
“Blues, Boogie, Be-Bop and Beyond” will be presented on Sunday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. Join the Space Coast Jazz Orchestra as they present iconic pieces from the jazz roots of Louis Armstrong’s New Orleans, through the Boogie Woogie of Harry James and Lionel Hampton, Count Basie and Louis Prima’s swing and jump styles.
Dizzy Gillespies’s be-bop and a nod to the rock era will offer selections from the Buddy Rich and Maynard Ferguson Libraries. This tour de force program will thrill you.
The concert will feature Carlia Alderman, a graduate from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Performing since the age of five, she grew up in musical theatre, with leading roles at local playhouses, high school drama, and professional touring companies.
Alderman has sung the National Anthem at countless sporting, tribute, and Boeing events. Since 2007, she has been traveling across the country as a vocalist with Classic Albums Live, recreating popular albums of the past at live venues, such as the King Center and Hard Rock Live.
She will be debuting with the Space Coast Jazz Orchestra at the Emerson Center. Two of her vocals will be the Bobby Troupe hit “Route 66” and Louis Prima’s “Jump, Jive, and Wail.”
