Museum to host free Community Celebration Feb. 25

VERO BEACH —  The Vero Beach Museum of Art invites community residents, both young and old, to come and celebrate all that the Museum has to offer during its annual all-free Community Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  The event is sponsored by Publix Supermarkets Charities, Inc.

There is no admission charge to see any museum exhibitions on this day and includes free docent-led guided tours for gallery visitors.

Exhibitions on view include Matthew Geller: Woozy Blossom (Alice and Jim Beckwith Sculpture Park); Beyond Reality: Hyperrealism and American Culture (Holmes Gallery); Cycle Of Change: Tom Nakashima’s Treepile Paintings (Schumann Gallery); Stephen Knapp: Lightpaintings (Stark Gallery); Museum Art School Faculty Exhibition (Patricia M. Patten Community Gallery); and the Eggert Children’s Gallery.

Also on view will be Art in Bloom – a spellbinding display of floral arrangements inspired by artworks from the Museum’s permanent collection.

Other highlights of this all-free day include: Studio Art Activities – young artists and their families can create their own masterpieces in the Museum Art School studio classrooms from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with Paint a Floral Still Life (Studio 1), Woozy Blossom Interpretations (Studios 2 & 3), and The Community Mural Project (Studio 4).

The Museum Art School faculty will present the day-long Clay, Glorious Clay! Ceramics Demo (Studio 5) as well as twelve other individual artist/faculty art demonstrations in the atrium, sculpture park, lobby, and at the entrance to the Museum throughout the day.

Faculty Artist Spotlight Presentations – each artist will be on stage in the Leonhardt Auditorium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.   Artists and presentations include Marie Morrow and Dawn Mill with Off the Grid: Watercolor Basics (10-11 a.m.), Deborah Gooch with Oil vs. Acrylic 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), Aric Attas with Discover Your Creative Vision Photography (12:45-1:45 p.m.), Sean Clinton with Ceramic Teapots (2 -3 p.m.); and Regina Stark with Let the Magic Happen (3-4 p.m.).

Snacks and refreshments will be available at the Museum from Chelsea’s @ the Museum Café in the Laura and Bill Buck Atrium in the Wahlstrom Sculpture Garden. The Museum Store will also be open to surprise and delight shoppers with the Treasure Coast’s most unique, gifts, jewelry, home decor, apparel, cards, and more.
