VERO BEACH – In preparation for the celebration of McKee Botanical Garden’s 10th Anniversary in November, several local contractors have volunteered to donate their services to the Garden. On Saturday, Oct. 8, Croom Construction Company and T.H. Whitfield Construction Inc. lent their expertise to paint the Garden gift shop and library.
“The garden itself has gone through a major horticultural enhancement this past summer in preparation for the Garden’s 10th anniversary and our buildings needed a renewed sense of life too. It is inspiring to see that the future of this Garden remains just as important to its supporters today as it was in 2001 and we are most thankful for their continued dedication” said Executive Director, Christine Hobart.
The celebration of the 10th anniversary of McKee will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13 from 11am to 4 pm. Gospel singers, local food vendors and animal encounters from local rescue and rehabilitation agencies are just the beginning of this anticipated event, which also will feature historic ‘rollback’ admission of just $1 per person.
The mission of McKee Botanical Garden is to nurture and enhance a historic garden in a unique tropical setting for the education, enjoyment and enrichment of all. McKee Botanical Garden is located at 350 US Highway 1 in Vero Beach.
General admission fees are $9 adults, $8 seniors and $5 children ages 3 to 12. Admission is free for members and children under 3. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, Noon to 5 pm. The Garden is closed Mondays.
