Mary Mathey, 93, of Vero Beach, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, in Vero Beach.
She was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Port Chester, N.Y. She was a resident of Vero Beach for 11 years, coming from Hackettstown, N.J.
She served in the United States Navy.
During World War II, she served as a hospital aide as a member of the Navy Waves.
Upon retiring from the military, she became a civil administrative assistant with the Army in Ft. Riley, Kan.
She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
She was a member of the Sherwood Country Club in Titusville, and the Junction City Country Club in Kansas.
Survivors include her daughter, Margot Joiner, of Vero Beach; son, Charles H. Mathey, of Titusville; sister, Julie Misiti, of Greenwich, Conn; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Charles H. Mathey and George T. Norwood; brothers, John and Anthony Marciniak; and sister, Anne Augustine.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
