Robert B. MacPherson, Jr., 90, died May 10, 2011, at Royal Palm Convalescent Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in New York, N.Y., and lived in Orlando and Vero Beach for 17 years, coming from Newark, N.J.
MacPherson served in the U.S. Army during the World War II and received his bachelor’s of arts in journalism from Rutgers University.
He was the owner of Robert MacPherson Advertising Agency from 1961 to 1981 in New York City, held a seat on the NY Stock Exchange in the 70’s and 80’s and taught courses on economics and commodities trading at the New School in New York City.
He later became a cryptography expert with National Security Administration and was a freelance Journalist for the New York Times and Travel & Leisure.
MacPherson was a member and former secretary/treasurer of the Scottish Society of Vero Beach and member of VFW Post #3918, Vero Beach.
He also was a delegate to the 2000 Republican National Convention.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years Debra Lynch, of Orlando; and son Richard Lynch, of Orlando.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross IRC Chapter, 2506 17th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A memorial service will be held a later date in Orlando.
Interment will be in the National Cemetery at Bushnell.
