Jersey Mike’s to host 5k in Vero Beach for breast cancer

VERO BEACH – Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop on Miracle Mile will be hosting a 5k run to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation on Saturday, March 26.

For $15, runners can participate in the run and receive lunch courtesy of Jersey Mike’s, a goodie bag, an entry in a drawing for free Jersey Mike’s for a year, sweets from Classy Cupcakes and coffee from Starbucks.

The 5k will be held at the 20th Avenue Chrisitian Learning Center beginning at 8 a.m. Registration will begin at 7 a.m.

The first 100 to register will receive extra goodies and a T-shirt.

Man critical after being struck by vehicle Friday in Sebastian

SEBASTIAN — A 70-year-old Brevard County man was critically injured after being struck by a pickup truck while walking across U.S. 1 last week, fire rescue crews and sheriff's officials said. A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon.
