N. Leland “Lee” Wilson Jr., 89, of Vero Beach, died Dec. 8, 2010, at Royal Palm Convalescent Center, Vero Beach.
Born in Downingtown, Pa., he was a resident of Vero Beach for 19 years, coming from the Philadelphia suburbs.
A chemical engineer, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and was involved with development of the atomic bomb.
He was a longtime member of Christ By The Sea United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Beatrice K. Wilson, of Vero Beach; two sons, N. Leland Wilson, III, of Williamstown, N.J., and J. Michael Wilson of Los Angeles, Calif; one stepson, Jeffrey Thielen, of Upper Brookville, N.Y.; one sister, Dr. Dorothy Wilson, of Sunbury, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Yumi Wilson and Christen Thielen.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Wilson.
Services and Interment will be private.
