Gerhard “Gary” Gardiner Bruns, 55, of Vero Beach, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010.

Bruns was born June 29, 1955 in Miami.

He worked for Bryant’s Precision Manufacturing in Vero Beach.

He is preceded in death by his father, Art Bruns.

Survivors include his mother; Reva Bruns, of Vero Beach; sister; Penny Bartol, of Vero Beach; niece, Alexa Bartol Kalino, of Los Angeles, Calif.

No public services are planned at this time.

A private family memorial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach, PO Box 644, Vero Beach, FL 32961.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach, Florida.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
