Juriel Douglas Horton, 78, died Oct. 28, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center.
He was born in Perrin, Texas, and lived in Vero Beach for 36 years, coming from Norfolk, Va. He worked in the construction industry as a carpenter and handyman. He served in the Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Peggie Mullens Horton, of Vero Beach; daughter, Carol Horton Coppage, of Vero Beach; son, John Douglas Horton, of Clarksville, Tenn; brother, Gary Horton, of Palo Pinto, Texas; sister, Wanda Elder, of Mansfield, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund, 1927 27th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 20 at the First Christian Church.
