Artists Miller and Gooch featured at Winter Haven Gallery

VERO BEACH — Dawn Miller, a frequent exhibitor and award-winning pastel artist, has participated in many of the area’s prestigious art shows over the past several years.  Last season, she was delighted when the art show judge, Professor Vilas Tonape, from Polk State College, stopped to compliment her on her innovative pastel paintings, and invited her to exhibit at the Winter Haven Fine Art Gallery, at Polk State College.

Fast forward to August 30, 2010, when Miller and fellow artist Deborah Gooch, who she invited to join her, will be the featured artists at the Winter Haven Fine Art Gallery on campus of Polk State College, located at the corner of Lake Elbert Driver and 11th Street, N.E., Winter Haven. The show will continue until September 24.  The opening reception is from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2 and is open to the public.   Miller will be exhibiting nearly 30 pastel works featuring expressive portraits, luminous landscapes and cloudscapes.  Gooch’s large, bold figurative, works in oil and acrylic feature people and animals. Her aim is to provoke a response in viewers, not necessarily the one she intended, through her deceptively simple compositions.

The works of both artists are featured at Gallery 14 in Vero Beach.  They are also both on the faculty of the Vero Beach Museum of Art, School of Art, and will be teaching this coming semester.
