Millstone neighborhood residents to boil water after water main breaks

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Eleven homes on Burlington Place SW in the Millstone community in South County will have to boil their water after a nearby water main broke, according to utilities officials. Crews were out Tuesday to repair the crack in the 8-inch water main.

Affected water customers are reminded to boil their water for one minute prior to using it for the following:

Drinking

Cooking

Making ice

Brushing teeth

Hand washing dishes

As an alternative, residents can use bottled water.

The boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological report shows that the water is safe to drink. This process consists of two days of laboratory testing as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and can take up to 72 hours.

Customers will be notified when the water is again safe to use without boiling.

Affected residences include: 3318, 3319, 3324, 3330, 3337, 3342, 3343, 3348, 3349, 3355, 3361.
