Mrs. Mary Harrelson Evitt, 87, died Nov. 1, 2009 at her residence in Vero Beach.
She was born in Ridgeway, Ill., and lived in Vero Beach for 42 years coming from Danville, Ill.
She attended the University of Illinois and was a graduate of the University of Central Florida, Orlando, where she received her Bachelors Degree in Education.
Mrs. Evitt was a school teacher at Osceola and Vero Beach Elementary Schools retiring in 1987 as a Reading Specialist.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vero Beach and was a member of the Florida Retired Educators Association and the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.
Survivors include her son, Scott Evitt of Pacific City, ORre. brother, Carroll Harrelson, Illinois; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mrs. Evitt was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Evitt, and son, Kenneth Roger Evitt.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 5, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Vero Beach, with Rev. Derrick West, officiating. Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.
