Lloyd Kevin Smiley, 53, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd G. Smiley, of Vero Beach, died on Aug. 3, 2009.
He grew up fishing, surfing, and boating on Key Biscayne and came to love the ocean. He had a lively sense of humor and he was a steadfast friend. Kevin served as a skilled and dedicated Union Ironworker for 30 years. His last assignment was the construction of the new launch pad at Cape Canaveral.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Vicki; and son, Logan; his loving parents; and sisters, Catherine, Patricia and Joan.
A funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Richard Murphy, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic church, will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate Kevin’s life. There will also be a Memorial Mass in Mims, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m., officiated by Rev. Andrew Wojtan, Pastor of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. All are welcome to join the brothers of the Orlando Ironworkers Union and honor Kevin on this occasion.
