INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 33-year-old West Virginia man was extradited to Indian River County to face a murder charge in connection with a shooting that sparked a four-day manhunt in August, jail records show.

Matthew Allen Waggle was booked Monday, Oct. 5 into the Indian River County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Waggle remained held Tuesday at the jail without bond.

Deputies previously said Waggle traveled on a Greyhound bus from Arizona down to Orlando, took an Uber to his ex-girlfriend’s home and shot her in the street. The woman – identified by deputies as 52-year-old Dawn Kriskewic – was shot in “cold blood” in front of her home in a mobile lot, Sheriff Eric Flowers previously said.

The shooting happened Sunday, Aug. 16 in the 500 block of First Street, west of U.S. 1 and south of the Vero Beach city limits. Kriskewic was taken by ambulance to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, where doctors pronounced her dead, deputies said.

Waggle then took an Uber back to Orlando, where he got on a Greyhound bus and traveled to North Carolina.

Several U.S. Marshals found Waggle at a Super 8 Motel following a four-day nationwide manhunt.

Deputies said Kriskewic was a local hairdresser and author. Kriskewic had a book signing in July in Melbourne for her romance novel “Knew You Were Waiting.”

Kriskewic had previously ended the relationship with Waggle, and Waggle moved away, according to deputies. Kriskewic knew there was a possibility that Waggle could return to the area.

Flowers said Kriskewic told her co-workers at the salon “if he calls or shows up, I want nothing to do with him. Tell him I’m not here.”

Waggle has an arraignment at 9 a.m. Nov. 10, court records show.
