The Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival takes place from Jan. 15-18 at 22 S. Orange St. This quirky small-town celebration returns for its 33rd year with carnival rides, live entertainment, crafts and plenty of food – including frog legs and gator tail prepared in every imaginable way. Festival hours are 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. All you can ride armbands cost $20 and $25. Menu prices range from $3 to $20. MusicWorks Concerts presents the Rascals at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Emerson Center, 1590 27th Ave., Vero Beach. The legendary 1960s rock and soul band, whose energetic performances and timeless hits like “Good Lovin’” and “Groovin,’” promises a nostalgic journey through the group’s storied career. The King of the Hill Tennis Tournament begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, and continues every Thursday through Feb. 19 at the Boulevard Tennis Club, 1620 Boulevard Village Lane, Vero Beach. The long-running series features top Treasure Coast tennis professionals competing in weekly matches to benefit the Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy. Rodriguez with three of his signature works that mix classical precision with contemporary flair. The Gainesville Brass Quintet performs at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Blvd., Vero Beach. The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra presents “Audience Choice” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd St. Audience members have already voted on the selections, which include Verdi’s “Overture to Aida,” Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” and Bizet’s “Carmen Suites Nos. 1 and 2.” The orchestra will also give world premieres of works by composers Steven Landis and Christopher Marshall. Clarinetist Jennifer Royals, a Vero Beach resident and principal musician with the SCSO, will be featured in Marshall’s new composition “Solace.” Tickets are $35 to $40 with free admission for anyone 18 and younger or with a college ID. The E-Series Lecture Marine Mammals at Risk begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Emerson Center (address above). Dr. Jeff Eble, Florida program director for the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute, will present an in-depth discussion on efforts to protect manatees and dolphins in the Indian River Lagoon after years of habitat decline driven by algal blooms and seagrass loss. Eble will describe field research, rescue operations, and aquaculture projects that are part of the recovery effort. A $10 suggested donation supports the center’s community lecture series.
