(Vero Beach, Fla. – October 12, 2022) Nonprofit leaders, board members and fundraising professionals are invited to an interactive workshop dedicated to best practices in nonprofit endowments. Entitled “Launch,” the seminar will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Blvd., Vero Beach. Registration is $80 per person, with a 10 percent discount for organizations with three or more attending. Breakfast, snacks and a workbook are included with registration.
Hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Indian River and sponsored by Gould Cooksey Fennell and Northern Trust, the workshop will allow participants to leave with a vision, sample documents and the next steps to establish or grow an endowment program. Leading the training is Cherian Koshy, a certified fund-raising executive (CFRE) with more than 25 years of experience leading organizations in scaling revenue growth. Mr. Koshy is widely recognized as one of the most sought-after trainers and speakers in the nonprofit sector and serves as a member of the AFP Global Board of Directors.
“In the wake of Covid, devastating hurricanes and an uncertain economy, nonprofit leaders must be more vigilant than ever about securing the future of their organizations,” said AFP Indian River President Jessica Schmitt. “This workshop will help them determine if their organization is ready to create an endowment, or if they’ve already started one, what sustainable success requires.”
The workshop will go beyond basic mechanics by exploring foundational and strategic elements critical to long-term endowment building. Through a mission-centric lens, topics will include creating an endowment vision; understanding policies and processes; working with an investment advisor; and marketing the endowment to prospective donors.
“You don’t have to be an AFP member to attend,” said Schmitt. “We strongly recommend that any nonprofit organization contemplating or engaged in growing their endowment send at least one staff member and one board member to take advantage of this unique educational experience.”
AFP Indian River was founded in 2007 and has since grown to represent more than 80 local fundraising professionals and volunteers. The organization represents a cross-section of Indian River County’s nonprofit community, including both professionals and volunteers of all levels of experience. The mission is to advance ethical philanthropy through education, peer support and advocacy.
