VERO BEACH — What is the cost of bank robbery? For a 20-year-old Vero Beach man who stole $973 from Florida Community Bank last year, the answer is 33 months in prison.
Tyler Scott Topolski learned his fate this week in United States District Court Judge Kenneth A. Marra’s courtroom.
He will serve 33 months incarceration, which will be followed by three years of supervised release. Topolski previously pled guilty to bank robbery.
According to authorities, Topolski entered Florida Community Bank, located at 4000 20th St., in Vero Beach, shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2015, and presented a demand note to the teller. The note read: “NO dye Paacs, I need All the 50s & 100s In the Bag! Fan the bills out first. Any resistance I will kill you & myself.”
He left with $973 in cash, authorities said.
The Vero Beach Police Department went to the public for information and help identifying the bank robber. Through their efforts, they identified Topolski and tracked him down to Myrtle Beach, S. Ca., where he was found in his mother’s closet.
Topolski eventually gave detectives a full confession and later pled guilty to the bank robbery charge, according to authorities.
