Riverside Theatre has a full slate of performances and activities this week. It begins with “Disney’s Frozen Kids” at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23, through Saturday, July 25. The Environmental Learning Center events this week begin with the Wabasso School of Fishing Family Fun Day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 25, with free admission. This hands-on program is designed for participants ages 6 to 17 years and includes instruction from experienced anglers and volunteers, with a requirement that an adult attend and participate alongside each child. The event emphasizes basic fishing techniques, safety and environmental stewardship within the Indian River Lagoon setting. The Environmental Learning Center will also host a Walking Meditation session from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 26, priced at $15 per person with a 10 percent discount for members. Led by Elise Mahovlich, the guided experience takes place in the Atala Meditation Garden and focuses on mindfulness in motion, encouraging participants to engage their senses and connect with the surrounding natural environment through slow, intentional walking that is designed to awaken your senses of sight, sound, texture, scent and more. In addition, the Full Moon/Sunset Guided Kayak Excursion will be offered at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, with tickets priced at $65 for single kayaks and $130 for tandem kayaks. Participants are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the start time for the two-hour excursion, which guides paddlers through mangrove-lined waterways of the lagoon during sunset and moonrise conditions. The Vero Beach Museum of Art’s exhibition “Jill Nathanson: Chromatic Phrases” opens Saturday, July 25; admission is $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $5 for students, and free for members, children 17 and younger, and active-duty military and veterans. The museum says that exhibition features recent abstract paintings by Jill Nathanson that explore the interaction between intention and material response through layered color and movement. Drawing on influences from Color Field painting of the 1960s and 1970s, Nathanson’s work examines color as an experiential and perceptual phenomenon rather than a fixed element, with compositions that evolve visually as viewers engage with them over time. The title Chromatic Phrases references a musical analogy, suggesting that each painting unfolds like a phrase, developing through relationships between colors and shifting optical effects. Visitors may experience both immediate visual impressions and more gradual recognition of spatial and tonal complexity as they move through the gallery. The exhibition continues through Feb. 7 and is presented as part of the museum’s ongoing programming focused on modern and contemporary art.
