Just in case any Bad Guys decide to visit Frankie an Bean Basura’s house, my advice would be DON’T! These two liddle ladies are Very Skilled at suggesting it would be a Bad eye-DEE-uh.
When me an my Assistant knocked, there was a lot of Serious Barkage on the other side of the door, which ceased as soon as the Nice Man who opened the door assured the two beautiful, barkin’ Boxers that we were Good Guys, at which time the two pooches transformed into a happy, waggy, woofy Welcoming Committee.
“Hello, Mr. Bonzo,” the black pooch greeted us. “I’m Bean and this is my liddle sister Frankie, come on IN!”
I innerduced my assistant, then, after Wag-an-Sniffs, we followed Bean an Frankie an the Nice Man inside and got all COMF-tubble.
For a few minutes, the grrrls’ focus was on polishing off the duh-li-shus snacks my Assistant had produced from “The Satchel.’
“So,” said Bean, “since I’m the Big Sister an this is Frankie’s tail, I’ll just help her out if she forgets stuff, if that’s OK.”
“Totally,” I agreed, flippin’ my notebook open. “I’m ready to write, Miss Frankie.”
“AH’b AWW-bos REBBY,” said Frankie with a mouthful of snack. She swallowed, then beginning her tail.
“A liddle while after Bean’s Big Sister Lily hadda go to Dog Heaven, Mom an Dad (they’re Boxer People) ree-lized they hadda ’dopt another Boxer so Bean wouldn’t be All Alone. I forgot to menshun that we havva place inna real pretty state called North, umm, north something …”
“Care-o-LINE-uh,” prompted Bean. “North Care-o-LINE-uh.”
“Oh, right! North Care-o-LINE-uh! Thanks, Bean,” Frankie said, an continued. “So, anyway, Dad was drivin’ around up there when an office fren down here – Miss Jenn – called to tell ’em there was this avail-ubble Boxer she saw on Facebook and it was back down here, in Fort Pierce, an they should look at her, an she texted a PICK-shur. It was ME! An I Iooked Very Adorable.”
(Ack-shully, Frankie was still Very Adorable, I thought. Pretty brown/gold coat, squishy black nose an muzzle, an Seriously Cool Kibbles, occasionally flopped-over ears. An Really Big Paws with white sox.)
“Well,” Frankie continued, “Dad took one look at my pick-shur and stopped then-an-there and called the con-tack number – an told the lady who owned me they’d be there the nex day. An they were!”
“Woof! Frankie! You really made an impression!” I told her.
“I guess so,” she smiled. “So when they arrived, I was inna cage. Not an awful one, but still, I couldn’t run around or Do My Duty where I was ’spose to. Anyway, the nice lady told Dad she hadda be gone a lot because of her job, so her pooches hadda stay in every day which wasn’t good for us. So she had to find us other families. It made her sad but she hadda do it. For us.”
“She did the Right Thing, an here you are!” I exclaimed.
“Yes! I got here on Valentine’s Day. My name was Molly, which was OK I guess, but Mom an Dad gave me fresh new name – Frankie. Cuz it’s Cool Kibbles an also cuz, well, my New Big Sister is Bean, So … Frankie an Bean! Humans think it’s Pawsome an huh-LARRY-us. An I like it, too.”
“So do I!” exclaimed Bean.
“Me, too!” I added. “What was it like here at first?” I asked. “That was a Big Change.”
“Yes, it WAS!” Frankie agreed. “On the drive to my Furever Home, I fell asleep in the car. I was Very Happy. I did have a liddle anxiety right at first, I think cuz I was 13 months old an had been mostly inna cage, up till then. Now I’m 15 months old an everything’s Totally Cool Kibbles.
“I think maybe, at first Bean was a liddle skep-tickle cuz I was still kinda Silly Puppy. But now we’re BFFs. I’m her O-FISH-ull Liddle Sis, an My Big Sis is teachin’ me lots of Important Dog Stuff. She has WIZZ-dum! Plus, we have our own beds an we also get to sleep with Mom an Dad sometimes. Bean says I SNORE an SNORT non-stop. But I’VE never heard me.
“An we have what’s called a roo-TEEN: Every morning after breakfast it’s PLAYTIME! I’m very active. I love Fetch! So does Bean. She could play Fetch all day! An me an her love chasin’ each other around the backyard. But NOT the pool. We don’t like swimmin’! We CAN but we choose Not to. An we’re mostly kinda meh about the beach. Bean says I’m gonna love the mountains, an goin’ out in the boat. So I can’t wait for that.”
(While Frankie was talkin,’ Bean an my assistant had been enjoyin’ a liddle game of Fetch with an obviously beloved (aka Soggy) yellow tennis ball.)
“I also enjoy just sittin’ in the sun with my blue blanket,” Frankie continued. “Oooo an look at my beauty-full collar. It’s PUR-ple!”
It was indeed PUR-ple. An beauty-full. An I told her so.
“I also havva human brother, Liam, anna human sister, Ava. They live elsewhere, but they visit. They’re Way Crispy Biscuits!”
“Have you made any neighborhood pooch pals yet?” I wondered.
“So far it’s Freddy! He’s a Golden re-TREE-ver. We say ‘HI!’ on leash walks. I also love our liddle humans nay-bers! I’m just so happy bein’ in my Furever Famly, Mr. Bonzo. It’s So Cool Kibbles to just be-LONG: you know what I mean, Mr. Bonzo?”
I totally did. An headin’ home, I was smilin’, thinkin’ about happy, enthusiastic Frankie, an my own Furever Home. An my evening dish of yoghurt.
Till next time,
